		Oscar Deutsch, born 1893 in Birmingham created within a 10-year span a formidable cinema circuit, who's architectural legacy is not in doubt.  The West Country was fortunate to receive many fine examples.  The two built in Cornwall, Falmouth and St Austell were by circuit architect Harry Weedon.  Following his death in 1941 the company was taken over by J Arthur Rank along with Gaumont British. With the demise of Rank Organisations cinema activities Odeon Cinemas are now the most dominant operator in the UK.
