By 1983 they had added a second screen in the former cafe and in 1986 tripled the main
auditorium to form the Regal Film Centre.
In 1985 they purchased the Cameo cinema at Camborne from Duchy Cinemas (Rowland
Hill) who had closed the cinema earlier that year due to dropping attendances. They
reopened the cinema in the earlier name of Palace on 18.10.1985 with the promise of a
return to family entertainment.
The Palace closed in the Spring of 1991 and the Regal was sold to Geoff Greaves of Merlin
Cinemas on 24.07.1998. The reason for selling was given as retirement. It is believed they
the couple still live in Cornwall and currently own and operate a number of historic
fairground rides.
