Mr Melvyn Lewison had spent a lot of money on his cinema at Llanbadoc to entice filmgoers from Usk, a short walk away. When in 1960 a new hall was opened in Usk, Mr Lewison wasted no time starting a film operation here. Operating from September 1960, it had closed by 1962, so it was fortunate he continued to operate the cinema at Llanbadoc.
The hall remains today at the far end of Maryport Street, quite a way from the centre of town (further perhaps than the Llandadoc Hall), and opposite Usk prison. The projection box can still be seen as a small opening at the rear of the hall.
