| Based in the old Town Hall, Fore Street, the cinema was operated first operated by L Chant then by Hugh Richard Hill of the Palace Theatre Truro and seated 340. The proscenium width was 26' and was called the Picturedrome in the 1920s and the Palace in the 1930s. The Cinematogragh Licence is concerned with the types of uses that the town hall has: "Space under floor of building not to be used for storage of motor vehicles, to be kept free from inflammable material or substances" In the 1950s onwards the cinema was operated by St Blazey Cinema Ltd using RCA sound and a 20' 6" by 8' 5" screen. Part-time bingo was introduced in the late 1960s and the cinema closed soon afterwards. The building is now divided into flats. |
