| This wooden hut was built by the Territorial Army in 1912 and was used for all sorts of activities. In 1938 it was converted into the Rex cinema by Donald Howell and A G Curtis. The cinema was situated in Ford Street. The cinema had 200 seats, Picturetone sound and a proscenium opening of 15', The cinema was operated part time Wednesday to Saturday by Mr Curtis who ran the Chagford Rex cinema. The cinema closed in 1957. The building became a factory but was later pulled down for a new house. |
