MILLBROOK
Gone but not forgotten:        Liberal Hall ~ Lyric
The remote village of Millbrook had a part time cinema from the early 1930s until late 1950s housed in
the Liberal Hall.  It was established by
Mr Strutt of the Regal Torpoint and seated 229.  It ceased during
the war years and after the war was operated by
Ernest Levi Honour with Imperial sound and William
John Hocking later showed films here on Wednesdays and Saturdays.  It was called the Lyric from the end
of the 1950s.  The hall was equipped with a 20' by 9' CinemaScope screen within a 30' proscenium.  The
Liberal Hall was demolished around 1990.
