When I first came looking for the hall at the tiny village of Llanbadoc, just over the river from Usk, I dismissed this tin building as far to small for a cinema. However I then unearthed this article from The Ideal Kinema in 1957 where it describes the hall perfectly, right down to its dimensions.
In April 1956 Mr Melvyn Lewison of Usk, trading as North Gwent Mobile Cinemas, started film shows here using a non-permanent enclosure, which normally means 16mm operation. The article suggests however that perhaps the operation became somewhat more permanent and continued until 1965.
Today the building is in a dilapidated state, although appears to still be in community use, being called The Red Shed, which in its self is odd as it is painted green. Note the high level door near the back, which indicates a stage within the hall.
