IVYBRIDGE

Gone but not forgotten:        Cinedrome

The cinema at Ivybridge was within an old mill building in Fore Street.  It opened in the early 1920s and was run by R C Budge who also ran the Cinedrome at Plympton nearby.  The cinema operated part time on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.  By the late 1920s it had passed to  H A Parkes.  Records show that a part time cinema was operated in Ivybridge during the 1930s by Mr Strutt of Torpoint who operated a number of part time cinema venues in the area.  It is assumed that this building was the one used by Mr Strutt.
